恩雅是有名的慢工出細活，每隔三五年才出一張新專輯，因而她的專輯總是令人期待。上張專輯後過了三年推出的「冬季戀歌」也是如此。聽到第一首主打歌「Trains and Winter Rains」時，感覺稍有新氣象，曲子較為動感，MV的拍攝也多了現代感，不再老是穿著美美的長袍在攝影棚搭景。當然攝影棚搭景也有好處，只是這些年恩雅都是這樣的風格，看太多有點膩了。

網路有個好處，就是取得媒體資訊的方式比過去方便太多。這次用網路聽過整張專輯，老實說，我慶幸自己沒花這個錢買這張專輯！因為恩雅編曲的方式幾乎沒有任何創新，就連曲目的安排也都給人似曾相識的感覺。照樣以第一首曲子「And Winter Came」鋪陳出整張專輯的主題風格，然後隔一兩首歌，就是專輯第一首主打歌「Trains and Winter Rains」，接下來才是專輯其他的曲子。這樣的安排不僅這張，2000年的「唯有時光」（Only Time）和好幾張專輯都已經有類似的曲目順序，只是曲名不同罷了。

這張專輯還有一個很糟糕的地方，就是曲子本身缺乏變化。或許因為恩雅本來是想做一張聖誕專輯的關係，裡面除了「平安夜」這種經典曲目，還有「Spirit of Christmas Past」這樣帶有聖誕氣氛的歌曲；「White is the Winter Night」跳躍的曲風聽起來也有聖誕歌曲的味道。我不反對聖誕歌曲，但是「平安夜」她以前就在別的專輯裡唱過了，編曲和唱腔又沒有創新，為什麼又放進新專輯呢？給人灌水的感覺。「 O Come O Come Emmanuel」是專輯中我最不喜歡的一首。其他「Dreams are More Precious」、「Last Time by Moonlight」、「One Toy Soldier」都是非常恩雅式的曲子，聽過不會留下太多印象，因為實在似曾相識，卻又沒有更上一層樓。

整張專輯，最有代表性的還是主打歌「Trains and Winter Rains」。然而它的歌詞深度，個人覺得不論是和從前的「唯有時光」或「Amarantine」，或更早的一票作品相比，都顯得不夠深入。

我聽恩雅的歌已經十幾年了，但是恩雅最近兩張專輯，有點原地打轉的現象。或許跟年紀也有關係吧！很多年輕時屢屢打破常規，建立獨特音樂風格的歌手，到晚年都顯露疲態，這也是正常現象。像滾石或Joe Cocker，雖然從年輕一直唱到現在，但是我先生始終覺得，他們目前的作品，都達不到年輕時的高度和爆發力。一個音樂人或許能夠忠於他的創作態度，但是創新這件事卻是需要體力和源源不斷的才情，這就不是那麼容易掌握的事了。
